Handoff is a client portal built for freelancers and small creative studios who deliver work to clients on a project basis. Designers, developers, copywriters, consultants, and other independent professionals use it to move a project from finished files to a signed-off, paid invoice without juggling email threads, shared drives, and separate billing tools. Each project becomes a single page the client can open: the deliverables ready for review, the invoice ready to pay, and a clear status line that says where things stand.
The app is for two audiences. Freelancers and small agencies use the dashboard side to organize clients and projects, upload deliverables stored privately behind signed links, and send invoices paid through Stripe. Their clients use a scoped portal that shows only the projects and invoices assigned to their own email address, so one client never sees another client's work. Clients can approve a deliverable or request changes with a comment pinned to the file, and pay an invoice with a card without anyone exchanging bank details.
Handoff is built on Base44, a backend-as-a-service platform that provides the authentication, database, file storage, and integration infrastructure the portal runs on. Row-level security keeps each client's records isolated to their account, Stripe handles payment processing, and automated workflows send the deliverable-ready, invoice-ready, and overdue-reminder emails without manual follow-up. The result is a lightweight, focused tool that turns the end of a project, the handoff, into a few clicks instead of a chain of messages.
